What is your favorite Holiday movie?

Your first homework assignment for the 2nd Marking period is to write your favorite holiday movie and tell me why you picked it. Is there a movie you love to pop in around the holidays? The Christmas Story is on TBS for 24 hours every year, Love Actually is a fun film with many different stories going on at the same time. Is there a movie that maybe reminds you of being a kid again? Let us know what movies you love, and maybe it's a movie we will love also!!

This is due by the end of Thanksgiving Break! (November 29th)

HALLOWEEN HOMEWORK- Due October 28th

Share with us your favorite scary movie of all time and tell us why you like it so much! If you do not like horror films, think of a thriller, or a movie that kept you on the edge of your seat with fear.

One of my favorite scary movies of all time is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original). I remember watching it as a college student, and it was the first horror film that scared me so much I could not fall asleep! The gritty quality of the film and the insanity of the main character resonated with me for weeks...It was that horrifying and disturbing, which makes it a classic horror flick in my eyes.

Add your selection to the blog...tell us your favorite horror film, and why you like it so much. These must be completed by October 28th. Happy Halloween!

Welcome to Ms. McDonnell's Cinema Studies Class!

Each of you are expected to create a gmail account in order to access this blog.
In order to create a gmail account, go to Google.com, and click on the Gmail link.

You need to make four blog comments for each marking period (that means eight total for the full semester!) The comments must be about a movie you have watched recently. You will be graded on 5 items in your blog:

1. Title of film, name of director, and main actor/actress.
2. Short summary of film (no spoilers! Try not to ruin any surprise endings)
3. Your opinion, did you love it? Hate it? Waste of time? Favorite movie ever?
4. One aspect of the film that we discussed or learned in class. For example, we discuss music in films, the purpose, different ways to incorporate music, etc. Therefore, you can blog about the effect of the music in the film, "The background music added even more sadness and grief to the plot of the film."

These were the top movies last week.
1 N Takers SGem $20.5 million

2 N The Last Exorcism 20.3 million
