Holiday Weekend!!!

This is the weekend for the big blockbusters to come out. Sherlock Holmes with RDJ and Jude Law, Alvin and the Chipmunks for the kiddies, and Meryl Streep is out with another romantic comedy for the holidays, It's Complicated. Last weekend I saw Avatar and Up In The Air with George Clooney. Avatar 3D was nothing spectacular, so I recommend seeing it in a regular theater. The story is a classic hero's journey, and it was very visually compelling and stimulating. Up in the Air was also very entertaining and George Clooney does a wonderful job.

TGI...Friday, December 18th, 2009

Yes, it is the weekend yet again. Last weekend, The Princess and the Frog leaped into number one, raking in approximately $24 million. The Blind Side was second with $15 million , and Invictus came in at number three with $8 million. New releases this weekend are James Cameron's latest opus, Avatar, and a romantic comedy, Did You Hear About the Morgans?, with Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant. New Releases - December 4th, 2009

There are three new movies coming out this weekend.

ARMORED - Vacancy director Nimród Antal helms the crime thriller Armored, starring Matt Dillon as an armored truck guard who gets wrapped up in a heist scheme hatched by his friends.  - Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide

BROTHERS- Jim Sheridan helms this remake of Susanne Bier's 2004 war melodrama, this time with Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal taking the lead roles of two brothers torn between war and love in this Relativity Media production. Maguire stars as a soldier who's sent to Afghanistan as his deadbeat brother (Gyllenhaal) stays at home with his sibling's wife (Natalie Portman) and kids. - Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide

EVERYBODY'S FINE - A widower (Robert De Niro) takes his grown kids on a road trip in order to reconnect with them after his wife's death in this Miramax production. Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale, and Sam Rockwell co-star in the drama, written and directed by Kirk Jones. - Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
